Each year the Exchange Club of Vero Beach sponsors a Christmas tree lot. We ask for corporate sponsors to help with the cost of the trees, and the profits are used to fund various charities and scholarships throughout the year.
We first opened our Christmas tree lot in December of 1952 in downtown Vero Beach and the profit of $1,000 was donated to the Sunshine Center. We helped to sponsor the Volunteer Ambulance Squad, our Exchange club purchased the first kidney dialysis machine and donated it to the India River Memorial Hospital.
During the 60 years of selling Christmas trees we have donated over $750,000 to community charities and youth activities.
In 1961 the Christmas Tree lot was moved to the Miracle Mile Shopping Center, then to Indian River Blvd, and in 005 we moved to our current location in the Indian River Medical Center at 1000 36th Street, Vero Beach.
The monies earned from our Christmas Tree sales go to the Vero High School Band, to Youth Guidance, First Safety Poster contest, Boy and Girl of the Month, Officer of the Quarter, Freedom Shrine, Castle and many other local charities.
